SlideMeister newsgroup has been around since 2000. We converted to this web based forum in November of 2006, and as Jan 1st 2009, we cracked the 200k visitors per month barrier and 1.8 million hits since November, 2006. Not bad stats for a group that was labeled both "idiotic" and "Impossible" when it first introduced.
I'm (ever so) slowly learning how to edit the site while my son, Gabe has settled in nicely as another Admin for SlideMeisterForums. As it stands right now, we are probably one of the most feature filled forums on the web and we're exploring new avenues every day. It's pretty simple really; We just wanna be the best; Most features, easiest to use, easiest go get to, upload to, download from, post, read, poll, show-off, ask questions and get them answered.
Sure, there may still be a few grumpy curmudgeons out there who refuse re-join us because they liked the old Yahoo format better, even though we also have RSS feeds available that work similar to the old email format, but, as they say, "time (and technology) marches on." Whenever they decide to check us out, we'll still be here,
On our old Yahoo based newsgroup, we had to wait upwards to hours for a post to show up. Really! Here, our new posts, threads with pictures, movies and even soundfiles, show up in seconds, and answers come back as fast as some members can think and type. (an that can be pretty fast) The "Join SlideMeisterForums" button at the top of the page is your way in to this group.
We have some exciting audio files in the wind, sound samples of various Chromatic harmonicas under controlled conditions, to give the perspective buyer an idea what to expect when he/she gets that new Suzuki, Hohner, Hering, Tombo, Seydel or whatever.
Our New CritiqueMeister feature allows folks to anonymously submit a sixty second audio file, and our panel of (anonymous) professional judges will critique and grade the submissions.
We've even added a chat line on BanterMeister, and increased the features in our Gallery.
We are now offering V.I.P. sub-domains /websites with 30MB of web space and 2 GB of bandwidth, five POP email accounts and more. We are also offering Commercial V.I.P. sub-domain sites for dealers and customizers.
Visit all you like, but to join in the fun, you have to join the group. Don't worry about anything sinister, like us selling your email address to spammers. (I wouldn’t do that even if I knew how to do it :o) We will soon be opening up some exciting new goodies and deals that will only be available to registered members, so you really ought to join us.
