Good evening! it' s my first time in a forum and I' m stuck on the screen, thinking of what to write! Anyway, just presenting myself for now; my name is Kostas, i' m a painter and a harmonica player. I was playing only diatonic, until i fell in love with chromatic about one year and a half ago! I use 16hole hering harmonicas and i really like them.
That's all for now, nice to meet you and please forgive my bad english.

*Could anyone give me an idea about how to clean the reedplates of the harmonica? sinking them in water with a little dishwasher soap, like i' ve read somewhere on the internet would work? i'm afraid of having troubles with the winsavers.

goodnight.

Welcome Kostas!

Your English is fine! I for one, never get tired of hearing how someone comes to discover the Chromatic harmonica. It's a fantastic little instrument.

Yes, you can clean reed plates in a solution of mild dish soap and warm water. The windsavers are usually not affected. Of course, you have to remove the reed plate from the comb if your comb is made of wood. For plastic combed harmonicas, (though I haven't done this myself yet) I've heard of people who just remove the cover plates and mouthpiece assembly and drop the comb (with reedplates attached) into warm soapy water and then rinse with clear water and again and allow to dry, with no problems with windsavers.

We can continue this discussion on the "Maintenance" board if you like.

Again, welcome to SlideMeister!

Yes, welcome Kostas!
Are you playing Greek folk music, or standards, or what?

I play mostly standards on the chromatic, and folk music (American, Irish, English) on diatonic.
I would think your music would go well on a chromatic.

yes, indeed. Also a harmonic minor harp works well in some songs.
