« on: May 13, 2012, 01:56:44 PM »
Hi there, I've a question, maybe a dummy question.
Are compatible the reed plate of silver concerto or Amadeus on CX12?
I ask this because for me would be amazing put a plated reed plate on my CX12...
Someone of you know something about this possibility

Probably not without modification. The Amadeus is almost 2mm longer, the Silver Concerto almost 1.5 mm shorter. If the Silver Concerto is straight tuned, it won't go anyway.

I can't see any advantage in doing so in the first place.

Thanks anyway Tom, I'm reject this option...
I'll continue to use the standard reed plate.

Some of the CX-12 plates in the harmonicas I am repairing for Bill Barrett are chrome plated.
I think they were the early models, he got them before they were available to the public.
At the end of the day it's all 24-7

Gary, are the plated reedplates medium slot? The latest ones are long slot.

Sorry for the off topic.
Tom I've a question ; is known that you are an cx12 lover , and also I appreciate it a lot, but The mine has a huge problem with valves sticking and I would solve this problem... Do you have tried the new valves of hohner on it or have you tried the valve of Seydel on the CX12 ....
There are a huge quantity of posts on the valves and before to reading all the posts I want ask you about your experience...maybe I'll can skip the reading  :) .
Thanks in advance

Beats me.
I still have one of them here, but didn't measure it. I could, but am not sure I am going to.
I could ask someone . . .

I have some early cx12's and the plates are medium slot. When I sent to Hohner for single reeds, they sent me long slot reeds.  This is when I figured out that they changed the plates from medium to long.
