DEFINITIONS for CHROMATIC HARMONICA

BLOW   To exhale or push air through the mouthpiece

DRAW   To enhale or pull air through the mouthpiece.

SLIDE IN OR OUT   The two slide positions



BEND  Affecting the pitch of a tone by changes within the mouth, tomgue or throat.

SHIFT   Changing from one mouthpiece hole to another to reach a note

PITCH   The location, low or high, of a tone

INTERVAL   The distance in pitch between two tones sounded or two notes written.

CHORD   Three or more tones sounding or written together

DOUBLE STOP    Playing tones from two holes together.

TRILL   The repeated rapid movement from a tone up a half or whole step

TREMOLO   like a trill but with a larger interval usually a  3rd

CHORD PROGRESSION   A succession of chords which connect musically i.e. 12 bar blues

VIBRATO   A pulsating wave in the tone created by the player
