Why the holes in the coverplates of the Silver concerto?

I don't know the answer to your question but I don't think there is anything earth shattering about the design of Hohner's high end chromatics.  I think the Silver Concerto is meant to attract classical musicians.  It has the word "concerto" in its name and it is really expensive, so it must be a great instrument - maybe, maybe not.

I had a used Amadeus for a while.  It had a really nice sound but I didn't like the way it responded - also, I didn't like the mouthpiece.  I also consider the slide assembly to be old fashioned.  I thought I would get it tweaked by a customizer - actually he didn't want to work on it.

I would stick to models that I see most professionals using (270, Meisterklasse, CX-12, G48, Sirius, Saxony).  There are others but these are probably the most common ones.

I tried a Suzuki Fabulous at last year's SPAH.  It sounded fabulous but so do their less expensive models.

I wonder if anyone has done a comparison/review of the high end models?  Winslow maybe?

Of course I'd love to try them all. (especially if I could keep the ones I liked best ;D)

Grant, you missed out one of the most popular models of them all ( used by ' top ' players), even Japanese Pro's use it.      ??
