Diminished Chromatic layout--Dr. John Yeadon's favorite

(1/17) > >>

Gnarly He Man:
Hi all--
Turns out that the variation of Diminished Chromatic harmonica that I discovered and retuned a 260 Hohner to--is not my invention at all!
Quoting Pat Missin http://www.angelfire.com/music/HarpOn/:

“This tuning is quite easy to make from a standard solo tuned chrom, but even easier is Dr. Yeadon's favorite version:
As you can see, this is very similar to the standard solo tuning, requiring a minimum of retuning and relearning.”

I am finding it very intuitive--is anyone else here familiar with this variation?
See attached.

I'm glad to hear you are giving diminished another try.  Play that 260 for a month and you'll be hooked forever.

I did read about this tuning on Pat's site awhile back, but I didn't put it together that you were talking about the same thing.

I'm sure it's very cool - I'll add it to my list of things to try.  Or maybe I can borrow that 260 if you don't end up using it (but you should!).

Gnarly He Man:
I'll send you the 260 with the Romello--I just retuned the 270 C7/G that Chris Reynolds build the comb for (a 270), so now I have a 12 hole in the right key. Almost did it to my Super 64x--that was a close one  :D
And Tinus was kind enough to put the new tuning (Gnarly Diminished--I kinda like that) up on his wonderful site--check it out, it's 5.2

I saw that - very nice.  You are slowly becoming famous in the most extreme niche possible, but I'm a fan.

Gnarly He Man:
It was nice of him to honor my request.
Hey, I could have chosen the Ska tuning  ;D :D
