You play well--
It would be better with accompaniment--easy to get lost in the improv section.
I see by your other videos that you play guitar--next time throw down a chorus for us :D
Sounds good!

Okay, Bill! Good job! You push the beat around a little at the ends of phrases, but it sounds as intentional as you meant it to be. Post some more.

BTW, good to hear the SCX 56.

Thanks Tom.  Of course that was "The Girl from Ipanema" not "Wave".  I am correcting it now.  Guess I will do "Wave" next.

Ok Redman, really good job. I liked the way you were true to Jobim's 'original' with the double taps on certain notes. And in the key of F, I could hardly tell when you used the slide.

Now here's the scary part. I noticed that your url had the prefix UK in front of it. Sooo, I surmised that you are from the United Kingdom. Now they say that everyone has a double, and you do too, I have a good friend (Bill) in St Louis who could be your twin, (but his mostache is darker). In fact, I hear a very similar style to your playing. He also has good rhythm.

OK Joey, I confess it is me.   Redman was an albino horse we had when I was a kid.  I am also Chickasaw.  The mustache is getting some white.  I'll be 65 Thursday so I guess I've earned it.  I didn't realize how scragley it was getting till I saw this video so I immediately trimed it.  I've had the scx-56 for about six weeks.  It is a pretty nice harmonica and I love the extra low notes.

What I like most about Brendan is that he isn't a braggart. I watched a film the other night called 'Leone' OR in America it was called 'The Professional' with Jean Renaux. The faint music in the background was some old Larry Adler stuff and the
more noticeable music in the foreground was Brendan Power and STING. What a class act.

rgn39,
I have been playing most of my life by ear until 6 years ago when I discovered the Gateway Harmonica Club here in St. Louis.  To play with the group meant learning how to read music.  I took piano lessons as a child which helped.  When learning a difficult piece, I will learn it on my keyboard first and then transfer to the harmonica.  If the music is very difficult I visualize the notes on the piano while playing the harmonica.  Check your library for "how to read music" books.  If you can find a club or others to play with it will help you improve.  Check the SPAH for a list of clubs.
Thanks everyone for your nice comments.  I need to work on my vibrato but I just can seem to come up with something good.
This is Audria's computer so it won't show that it is me.

I love that movie. What an ending. Its been awhile since I saw it.  I'll have to watch it again and pay more attention to the music.

Hey People,

Congratulations! What a great site for Chromatic Harmonica!

First of all, sorry for my bad English. I am brazilian and I like music so much, specially the brazilian one (Bossa Nova, Samba, Brazilian Jazz)! I have been trying to play my chromatic, but I think I should pratice a little bit more. So, take a look at my version of "WAVE". My brother is on Guitar. As it was one of my first video, I didn't get the right point to cut it. So, please go right to video time 1:10.

I would appreciate a feed back. Sorry for my english. Good Forum.

Nice job Jarbas!

For a while it looked like you were playing a B flat 12 holer in the E minor position, but I think you're using a C playing the piece in A minor. Either way, it sounded pretty good to me.

Congrats!

Nope, the tune is in D--major, and then it goes to Dm at the end of the A section.

Your right! This is exciting. I didn't think I could play that well in D major.  ha ha !

I must be gettin' like Spranklin (with only about 200 years to go  :D) Not knowing (or caring) what key he's playin' in.   8)

Cool Beans!  Nice stuff! Is that you on vocals too?

Two of those numbers "Autumn Leaves" and "Fly Me" are also on my next project!

I just read the thread about Bill's passing.  I feel very fortunate to have bought one of his last harmonicas.
