Seydel Sampler
« on: December 24, 2014, 11:06:16 AM »
I just ordered a Seydel Sampler in C/G. I ordered this particular harp because I am presently learning Chromatic on a Seydel Saxony and they have the same round, 12 hole mouthpiece configuration. My though being that I would not have to learn different hole spacing, etc. So anyway, do you have any opinion on whether bending is easier or more difficult on the Sampler?  Lol, maybe I should have asked this BEFORE ordering it. OK, I admit it, it was an impulsive purchase.  :-[

Hello, JPKelly.

This is only a guess. I don't own either of those harmonicas.

If the Sampler has valves, the bending technique will be the same as the Saxony
(not easier, not more difficult).

If the Sampler has no valves, the Sampler's bending techniques may be easier than
the Saxony (the Sampler is a diatonic harp).

Happy Holidays

They state here http://www.seydel1847.de/epages/Seydel1847.sf/en_US/?ObjectPath=/Shops/Seydel/Categories/Products/SAMPLER-Tutor that "The SAMPLER is a half-valved instrument. The blow reeds are not valved. "

Seems to me that this would be a good instrument to tune to Power Chromatic--half step bends on every hole, and the chords are IV6 and V6--so on a C/G, the chords would become F6, G6, and C6, D6.

I also am attemped to buy a Sampler in G/D, although lately I have seen the other option that would be one powerchromatic Saxony, in G, touch to music root and I believe that with PC SAX, she would gain low notes, that create?

Be sure to let us know what you think of it - I've been tempted with getting those as well.  8)
